Responsive Soundboard
You can hear your soundboard—but can your recording hear it?
Test the complete Mac soundboard audio path so effects reach your recording or stream once, at a useful level, alongside your microphone.

Monitoring and capture are separate checks
A sound playing through your headphones proves that an output path exists. It does not prove that your recording software has that sound as an input. When setting up a soundboard for a stream, test the listener’s result rather than stopping once you hear the effect yourself.
Responsive Soundboard plays through your Mac’s selected audio output. Your recording or streaming setup must include that playback through an appropriate capture or routing path. The plugin is not a substitute for configuring the audio sources in the application that produces your stream.
Trace the path in plain language
Write the intended route as a short chain: soundboard playback, selected Mac output or audio route, recording source, recorded file or broadcast. Then do the same for your microphone. If you cannot identify where the two meet, that is the place to investigate.
Different recording tools and macOS versions expose different capture options. Follow the current documentation for the software you are using. Instructions for Elgato’s built-in Play Audio action or a Windows output selector should not be assumed to apply to Responsive Soundboard on Mac.
Make a thirty-second recording
Start recording, speak a sentence, play the test effect, and speak again. Watch the relevant meter while the effect plays, then stop and listen to the saved file. Confirm that both speech and effect are present and that one does not overwhelm the other.
If the effect appears twice or echoes, inspect whether the same signal is being captured through two paths. If you hear it locally but not in the file, check the selected capture source and its mute state. Change one routing choice at a time and make another short sample.
Check stop controls and real session changes
Add Stop All Local Sounds to your Stream Deck and test it through the same route. That control stops the plugin’s sounds, not every application on the Mac. Confirm that stopping the sound does not accidentally affect the microphone path you need to keep open.
Repeat the short recording after changing headphones, audio interfaces, output devices, or routing software. For mixers such as Wave Link, pay attention to the distinction between what you monitor and what you send to the stream. A working test from yesterday does not prove that today’s selected output is the same.
