Your first week with Live or Not: a practical trial checklist
Use the no-card trial to test creator matching, live alerts, muting, and your real Mac workflow before choosing a monthly or yearly subscription.
Day one: verify the basics
Install Live or Not on an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Open the app, enable Whatnot alerts in Settings, and allow macOS notifications. Add one creator you already recognize, then check that the displayed profile belongs to the right account. Your personal list starts empty.
Do not begin by adding unfamiliar accounts solely to make the menu look busy. You will learn more from a creator whose normal shows and profile you can recognize. There is no creator cap. Larger watchlists take longer to check.
During the week: test your actual routine
Leave Live or Not running while you use your Mac. Keep your Mac awake and online, and open the menu to refresh when you return after a break. Notice whether the alerts help you catch the shows you want to watch.
Keep an eye on the distinction between detection and display. If a creator is live in the menu but no banner appeared, inspect macOS Notifications and Focus. If the app has not confirmed the latest state, check your connection and compare the creator’s public profile after refreshing.
Try the quiet controls too
Mute a creator you want to keep on the list without being interrupted. They can still appear as live in the menu, while staying out of the red live count. Unmute them when you want future alerts again. This is worth testing before deciding that every live show needs your attention.
Click a detected show and make sure that opening the stream is convenient in your normal browser setup. The value of the tool is the whole path from awareness to watching, not the animation by itself.
Choose a plan based on what you observed
The trial lasts 14 days and does not require a card or automatically convert into a subscription. If the app fits your routine, the available plans are $2.99 per month or $29 per year, in USD plus applicable tax. Paid plans renew until canceled. The annual total is $6.88 less than twelve monthly payments at the current price.
After purchase, copy your activation key from the purchase page into Settings → Trial and subscription. Keep the activation email. Paid access requires an internet connection at least once every 24 hours for verification. You can manage or cancel the subscription through Link.
Whatnot support remains experimental. Use the trial to judge the current Mac feature set; YouTube, Twitch, other platforms, Windows, and the forthcoming Stream Deck companion are not included in this release.
